This is highly dependent on the person. If you choose to self-teach, most methods suggest waiting at least 3 full cycles before starting to trust fertility awareness on its own for family planning. Many methods, when learned with an instructor, allow you to start using fertility awareness for family planning within 2-8 weeks. It all depends on your method, how you learn, and ultimately your confidence level.
