Pregnancy Week 11

By Tempdrop team

During your eleventh week of pregnancy, your baby is measuring roughly the size of a lime. Your baby is now medically referred to as a fetus rather than an embryo.

Your baby is starting to make small movements like swallowing and kicking, but you likely won’t be able to feel anything (that’s normal!). They are small practice movements.

Most critical organs (such as the heart and brain) are fully formed and functional, and organs like the kidney, liver, and pancreas, are mostly formed and partially functional. Your baby’s facial features are also moving closer together into a more distinct human profile. While external genitalia is still forming, it’s probably still too early to accurately determine sex through an ultrasound.

While you may be able to find your baby’s heartbeat with a home Doppler around now, it isn’t generally recommended. Why? Because it can be difficult even for a professional to find a baby’s heartbeat sometimes, which doesn’t necessarily mean anything concerning. There are also a lot of different nuances that only professionals are trained to listen for in your baby’s heartbeat.
